My worst books of 2018 and why

Hello everyone! I’ve done posts about my best books of 2018 and I’ve talked about my highlights of the year. Now it’s time to talk about my worst books. There are four in particular that just make me mad and I’ve dedicated this post to them. I apologise in advance for my high levels of negativity surrounding these books.

(1) Caraval by Stephanie Garber

After hearing all the hype about this book, I finally decided to read it. I was dissapointed. In my opinion, the characters were bland, the plot was confusing and don’t get me started on the writing! I know loads of people loved it but I just didn’t.

(2) Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

I also finally decided to read this after all the hype. I was also dissapointed. The striking out was so annoying! And the writing was ridiculous, it was so purple it didn’t make sense. Furthermore, I hate insta love and it was rife in this book. It was definitely not my kind of book.

(3) Frostblood by Elly Blake

I don’t hate this but I think it’s very uninspired. I’ve seen it all before. I’ve read it all before. There was nothing new or exciting about it. Ruby was a fire-wielder being trained by Arcus who was an ice-wielder. Does that sound familiar to any books you’ve read before? (Cough, cough HEIR OF FIRE). Anyway, I didn’t like it because it was unoriginal.

(4) The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

I didn’t even finish this book. I can’t explain what I didn’t like, to be honest. It’s more of a case of the book wasn’t for me not that there was a giant problem with it.

Those are my worst books of 2018. Do you agree? What are yours?
