Hey bookdragons!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that was created by The Broke and the Bookish but is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s theme is, ‘rainy day reads’. For me, a ‘rainy day read’ is when it’s wet and miserable outside (as is often the case in the UK) or your day is just generally going bad and then you snuggle up and read a book so good you can’t put it down for even a second and life becomes good again.
So, here are the books I recommend for those dreary, rainy days:
☆ A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
This is odd because I actually don’t like this book, however, I read it while I was feeling ill and wrapped up in loads of blankets so this was one of the first books I thought of for this theme. Although I didn’t enjoy A Court of Thorns and Roses that much, it definitely made me feel better!
☆ Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Life of Pi is a slow read that gradually reels you in and is perfect for a gloomy day. Just think about it, no matter how bad you day is going it can’t be worse than being stranded in a life boat, in the middle of the ocean with a tiger, right?
☆ The Martian by Andy Weir
If your day has been worse than being stranded in a life boat with a tiger then it couldn’t possibly be worse than being stranded on Mars all by yourself!
☆ A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
A Darker Shade of Magic has all the ingredients of the ultimate rainy day read: loveable characters, awesome world building, a gripping plot and most importantly loads of magic!
☆ The Diabolic by S. J. Kincaid
The Diabolic is fascinating with its complex characters and I love how it’s set in space. It’s great if you feel like reading something out of this world (forgive the pun).
☆ Cinder by Marissa Meyer
This is an excellent read, especially because it’s extremely action packed and relatively quick to read.
What are your rainy day reads? Let me know in the comments!
Ahhh omg, yes, Cinder, and the entire Lunar Chronicles really, would be perfect to read on a rainy day. Also, omg, I’ve been wanting to read A Darker Shade of Magic for so long now, I just got the trilogy, and rainy season is just starting where I live, so maybe I’ll get to it soon 🙂 I also really want to read The Diabolic. Like, omg, this is such a good list! I think if I had to choose one book to read on a rainy day it would be Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I just feel like the atmosphere of the book would fit really well with some stormy weather, and it’s the kind of book I’d just want to curl up with and enjoy 🙂
